>// hostels along the way

El Pallars Sobirà, locked among mountains and gorges, was one of the last counties to be reached by roads and cars. Even nowadays, there are still some hamlets that only be accessed on foot and other villages which have rough earthen forest paths to drive along. It is easy to understand then, in such a situation, that the lodging houses to be found all the length of the main tracks became especially important and that the carriers, with their round-legged wooden animals, were the main characters of the trails. From Gerri de la Sal to Esterri d'Àneu, following the course of the river La Noguera Pallaresa, several hostels were found, but today most of them have disappeared to the bones: the Hostel of Morreres, the Hostel of Comte, the Hostel of Bona Mossa, the Hostal Nou, the Hostalet, the Hostel of Gulleri, the Hostel of Rei, the Hostel of Aidi and the Hostel of Fam. The two hostels that still offer some lodging these days are the Hostalet (between Rialp and Sort) and the Hostel of Rei, in Llavorsí.
